Giving back
Charity Engagement
Making a positive difference within the community.
Beyond the Pitch
Throughout his career as a professional footballer, academic and chartered psychologist, Dr Alan Tonge has remained committed to giving back. He believes that the skills, resilience, and self-awareness developed through professional sport have a value that extends far beyond the game itself.
From supporting mental health charities to advocating for better psychological support in football, Alan's charitable work reflects the same values that underpin his professional practice: empathy, integrity, humility and a genuine belief in human potential.
Manchester Mind
A percentage of all royalties from 'From Red to Read' is donated yearly to Manchester Mind, a leading mental health charity supporting people across Greater Manchester. Alan is passionate about reducing the stigma around mental health within broader life.

"Football gave me a lot of fantastic experiences, but also some tough times too. The least I can do is use what I've learned to help others find their own path — whether that's on the pitch or within broader life."
— Dr Alan Tonge
